Let’s prepare for a new year in the textile industry filled with Classic Blue tones. Pantone 2020 19-4052 “Classic Blue” is the soothing and vibrant color presented by Pantone Color Institute last December.
A classic blue appearing after the impulse of Living Coral, which dressed 2019 with warm and lively tones.
Pantone 2020: Calm, trust and connection
According to the Pantone Color Institute, this intense blue tone represents the mood of an entire generation.
It’s a deep blue filled with calm, confidence and connection.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute, explained in the presentation that the Classic Blue was chosen because of its “solidity and trust” we need for the times we live in.
Eiseman said “Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious, to expand our thoughts; it challenges us to think more deeply, to enlarge our horizons, and to open ourselves to communication.”
Classic Blue in fashion and textiles
Balanced blue, self-confident and elegant in its simplicity, this is how the Pantone Color Institute defines Classic Blue for the fashion and textile industries.
The versatility of the colour of the year 2020 will make it possible to assume differentiated appearances in various materials, finishes and fabrics. From shiny metals, glossy finishes and high-tech materials, to more delicate fabrics and handmade combinations.
How to choose the color of the year
After an exhaustive analysis of new trends and influences in several industrial sectors, such as the textile industry and fashion to name a few, a group of specialists from the Pantone Color Institute have been choosing the colour of the year for more than 20 years.
The Pantone Color Institute is the Pantone business unit responsible for highlighting the main colours of the seasonal runway, forecasting global colour trends and advising companies on colour for product creation and brand identity.
